» Welcome to Touchdown Jesus
Fitting name, don't you think? If you've ever been to a Notre Dame football game (or watched one on TV), then there is no doubt that you know about Touchdown Jesus. For those that don't, let us give you a brief introduction. Across the street from the historic Notre Dame stadium lies the Hesburgh Library. This isn't just any library, but probably THE most recognized library in the world. Why? The Hesburgh Library is adorned with a 134-foot mosaic of Jesus, standing triumphant with His arms rasied overhead as if he's signaling for another Irish touchdown -- Touchdown Jesus. Okay, so maybe that wasn't the original intention for the mural but it has become synonymous with Notre Dame Fighting Irish football over the years.
This website was developed to document, celebrate, and uplift the amazing players, the legendary coaches, the great teams and the history surrounding the most storied football program in all of college football -- the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish. This website is a labor of love that should be considered a continual work in progress. I have compiled the data myself from the yearly media guides published by the Sports Information Office at the University of Notre Dame, from various yearbooks and game programs, as well as newspaper accounts. Data from professional teams comes from ESPN, The Sporting News, the NFL, and other various sites on the Internet. If you think I am in error, or if you have any additional information (including the source), please do not hesitate to e-mail me and I will make the necessary corrections.
